Take 1/2 cup Toor Dal in a cooker. (Washed 10 minutes before)
Add 3 cups of water to the cooker, salt as per taste, and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Cook until 3-4 whistles on low to medium flame. After 3 whistles, turn off the flame.
Add 3 tbsp of oil to a kadhai/pan. Spread it evenly with a spatula. Once the oil is hot, add 2 dry red chillis. Stir and Fry on medium flame.
Add 1 finely chopped onion and fry for a few minutes until the onion gets soft.
Once the onion gets soft, add 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste and saute with the onion.
Add 1 chopped tomato. Mix it well. Cover and cook for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, we will check, and the tomatoes will have become softer. Stir and Cover and cook for 2 more minutes.
Add salt as per taste, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, and mix well.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix it well.
Add boiled dal. Let it boil on high flame first, and after a boil, turn the flame to medium and let it cook for a few minutes.
Add chopped coriander leaves and cover it. Let it cook for a few minutes.
After 5 to 10 minutes, pour the cooked Dal Tadka into a serving pan. Serve with roti and rice. Enjoy.
