Chilli potato is one of the most loved and popular Indo-Chinese street food. It is very famous in India and available in every street and corner. It is a delicious and crispy potato snack recipe made using simple ingredients.

- 5 medium potato
- salt to taste
- 3 tbsp rice flour/corn flour
- 3 tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 tsp soya sauce
- 2 tsp red chilli sauce
- 1 tsp tomato ketchup
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- oil for frying
- 10 garlic cloves
- 3 green chilli
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 onion
- 1 green capsicum
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp spring onion
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves
How to Fry Potato
Take 5 medium size potatoes. Wash and peel them and then cut them into French Fries shape.
Soakthe sliced potatoes in water and add to a bowl. .Add ½ tsp salt and cook until 1 boil. After 1 boil, turn the flame to low and let it cook for 5 more minutes. After5 minutes, turn off the flame and strain the excess water.
Add the potatoes to a bowl. Add 2 tsprice flour or corn flour. Add slightly less than 2 tsp of All-purposeflour.Mix it well so that the potatoes are coated evenly with theflour. This helps in making them crispy. Keep it aside for now.
Tomake it even more crispy, we will prepare a batter now. Take a bowl and add 2tbsp rice flour and 2 tbsp all-purpose flour. Add ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp redchilli powder. Mix it well.
Now, gradually add waterin small quantities to the mix and prepare a thick batter. Addthe potato slices into the batter and mix them well with your hands so thatthey are evenly coated with the batter.
Heatoil in a deep fry kadhai/pan on high flame. Once the oil is heated, add thepotato slices one by one.
Fry the potato slices onhigh flame. They will change color and turn slightly golden brown.Now,we will fry the fried potatoes again. Heat the oil and add the fried potatoslices. They will get fried very quickly and change the color. Transfer them to a plate.
How to make Chilli Potato Sauce
Heat 1-2 tbsp oil in adeep fry panChop the followingveggies: 10 garlic(finely chopped), 3 green chilli, spring onion, corianderleaves, 1 onion, and 1 capsicum.Once the oil is heated,first add the chopped garlic, green chilli, and 1 tbsp sesame seeds and fry fora few seconds.Next, add the onion and fry it.Next, add the capsicum and fry it. Once the veggies are fried well, add2 tsp soya sauce, and 2 tsp red chilli sauce and mix it well.
Add 1 tsp tomato ketchup, ½ tsp blackpepper powder, and ½ tsp salt. Mix well and let it cook.
Add ½ glass of water and let it cookuntil a boil. Now add the corn flour slurry.
Letit cook and once the sauce is cooked well, turn off the flame.
Addthe fried potato slices to the sauce and mix it well.
Addthe chopped spring onion. Mixeverything well and let the potato slices coat with the sauce.
