  • 1 cup soaked Chana Dal
  • ½ cup soaked Urad Dal
  • 5 Green Chilli
  • 8-10 Garlic cloves
  • 2- inch Ginger
  • coriander leaves
  • spring onion
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp Hing
  • 2-3 tbsp oil/desi ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Red chilli powder
  • coriander leaves
  • Water for cooking
  • Oil for greasing

Instructions

  • Heat 2 cups of water in a Kadai. Let the water come to a boil. As the water comes to a boil, add 1 tbsp desi ghee and let it melt on high flame.
  • When the ghee melts, add 2 cups of Rice Flour and mix it well with the water. Turn the flame to low to medium and keep stirring and mixing until it absorbs the water and gets a thick consistency. Turn off the flame, cover the lid, and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, remove the lid and mix it. Pour the mixture on a plate. Now, knead and press it with the help of a Spatula or from the back of a small steel bowl to remove the lumps.
  • Now, grease your hands with oil and create a dough from the mixture. Cover it and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Take 1 cup of soaked Chana Dal and ½ cup of soaked Urad Dal. Add the Chana Dal in a grinder and grind to make a mixture, and keep it in a bowl.
  • In the same grinder, add the soaked Urad dal and 5 green Chilli, 8-10 garlic cloves, 2-inch ginger, coriander leaves, spring onion, and 1 tsp cumin. Grind to make a mixture.
  • Keep the mixture in the same bowl. Add salt to taste, ¼ tsp Turmeric powder, and ¼ tsp Hing.
  • Mix everything well and make a smooth mixture. Keep it aside.
  • Check the dough and mix it well. Make small balls from the dough.
  • Dust with rice flour. Roll it using a rolling board and a pin. Place a steel bowl and cut the edges out to get it in a circular shape.
  • Now, we will place the mixture inside and fold it from both sides. Please keep them on a plate.
  • Take a Kadai. Fill it with water and let it boil. Take a plate on which we will steam and cook the Fara. Place the plate on the Kadai.
  • Cover the lid and cook the Fara for 12-15 minutes on medium flame. Cook the others in the same manner.
  • Cut the Fara into pieces.
  • Heat 2-3 tbsp oil/desi ghee in the Kadai. Add 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp Mustard seeds, ¼ tsp Red Chilli powder, and coriander leaves. Stir well.
  • Now add the Fara to the Kadai and mix well with the spices. Fry on low to medium flame.
  • Fry until they become crispy. Flip them constantly until both sides become crispy and are cooked well.
  • Serve the delicious and crispy Dal Fara with Green chutney and enjoy.
