Dry Cabbage Manchurian Recipe

Veg Patta gobi Manchurian or Cabbage Manchurian is a delicious and spicy Indo-Chinese starter that is very popular street food.

Ingredients
  

For Manchurian Balls

  • 1 medium sized chopped cabbage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1 finely chopped capsicum
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger garlic
  • salt to taste
  • 7 tbsp cornflour
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose-flour

For Manchurian Sauce

  • 4-5 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 3 chopped green chilli
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 1 chopped capsicum
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornflour(for slurry)
  • 3 tbsp water(for slurry)
  • spring onion

Instructions
 

For Crispy Manchurian Balls

  • Chop 1 medium size cabbage and add to a mixing bowl. Add 1 tsp salt and mix well. Leave it aside for 15 minutes
  • After 15 minutes, squeeze out excess water.
  • Add 1 grated carrot and 1 finely chopped capsicum.
  • Add the following spices:
    1 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 2 tbsp grated ginger garlic and salt to taste. Mix everything well.
  • Add 7 tbsp cornflour and 3 tbsp all-purpose-flour. Mix well to prepare a soft dough.
  • Grease your hands with oil and prepare Manchurian balls from the dough.
  • Heat oil and once it is hot, add the manchurian balls one by one.
  • Fry until golden brown on both sides.keep them aside for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, we will double fry the manchurian balls and keep them aside.

For Spicy Manchurian Sauce

  • Heat 4-5 tbsp oil on high flame. Add 2 tbsp finely chopped ginger and 2 tbsp finely chopped garlic and 3 chopped green chilli. Saute on high flame.
  • Add 1 large size chopped onion.Saute it on high flame.
  • Add 1 chopped capsicum and saute on high flame for a minute.
  • Add 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder. Turn the flame to low and saute for a minute. Mix well.
  • Add 1 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp red chilli sauce and 1 tsp tomato ketchup. Mix well.
  • Cook on low flame for a minute. Add 1/2 cup water. Wait for 1 boil.
  • Prepare a corn flour slurry by mixing 1 tbsp of cornflour with 3 tbsp water.After a boil, add the corn flour slurry.
  • Keep stirring and cook the sauce. Add chopped spring onion.
  • Once the gravy gets thick,turn off the flame,and then add the Manchurian Balls to the mixture. Mix them well.
  • Serve it hot with Fried Rice.
