To make Coconut Milk, take a Coconut, not the tender coconut, but the Fresh one, peel the outer brown layer, and crack it open. Alternatively, you can also steam the Coconut shell, which will loosen it up, and the inner white Coconut will easily come out.
Chop off the Coconut into small pieces using a knife. To make the milk, I’ll be using 1 cup of chopped coconut. Add it to a grinding jar.
Next, add 2 cups of water. This is the perfect measurement. The ratio of coconut to water should be 1:2. Alternatively, you can also grate the Coconut and blend it easily, but grating takes more time than chopping.
Next, blend the mixture to make the Coconut Milk. You can check the texture below, but we still need to strain it.
Take a large bowl, place a sieve over it, and then a white muslin cloth over the sieve, and strain the coconut mixture. The liquid will settle down, leaving the hard part, but there is still some milk in it.
So, gather the cloth from all ends. Squeeze it hard to strain the milk out of it.
Do not throw away the leftover part. This is Desiccated coconut that can be dry roasted and stored for later use, as it is used in so many recipes.
The creamy Coconut Milk is now ready.
You can refrigerate it in glass bottles and use it for 2 days. You can also store it longer by freezing it.
Enjoy the delicious and healthy Homemade Coconut milk.
