  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tbsp grated ginger garlic
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • 2-3 chopped green chilli
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 pinch MSG -optional
  • 1 tsp dark soya sauce

For Steaming Momos

  • 1 tsp oil for greasing
  • water

Instructions

  • The main preparation for making momos is chopping veggies and making the dough. First, we will get the veggies. Finely chop 1 cabbage(Patta Gobi) into small pieces.
  • Also, finely chop the following veggies: 1/2 cup capsicum, 3 tbsp grated ginger garlic, 1/2 cup grated carrots, and 1 cup finely chopped onions. You can also add other veggies as per your liking and preferences.
  • Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a kadai/wok.
  • As soon as the oil is heated, add the grated ginger garlic, and let it fry for 15-20 seconds. Now add the chopped carrots, onions, and capsicum. Mix well and cook them for 30-40 seconds on high flame to remove the rawness of the veggies. Now, add 2-3 chopped green chilli. Mix well.
  • Add the chopped cabbage. Mix everything well on high flame.
  • Add salt as per taste, 1 tsp black pepper powder, 1 pinch MSG(optional), and 1 tsp dark soya sauce. Mix and stir well.
  • After everything is mixed, the stuffing for Momos is ready. Transfer it to a bowl and keep it aside. Let it cool down.
  • Take a mixing bowl and add 2 cups of Maida and 1 tsp salt. Mix well with both hands. Make sure there are no lumps.
  • Gradually add water and prepare a soft dough. Apply 1 tsp oil, and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, knead the dough to make it soft. Make small lemon-sized balls and keep them in a bowl.
  • Flatten a dough ball. Keep it on a Rolling board. Dust some flour.
  • Using the rolling pin, Roll the fall to make a small and thin Poori-like shape.
  • Place the momos stuffing in the middle.
  • Start pleating the edges and twist the pleats together to seal the stuffing inside.
  • Repeat the same process with the remaining dough balls until all the momos are ready.
  • Let's proceed to steam Momos. Take a steamer basket and grease it with oil. This will prevent Momos from sticking to the basket. If you have Momos Maker, then you can use that.
  • Place the momos on the steamer basket or the Momos maker.
  • Heat water in a kadai at a high flame. Wait for a boil. Once the water has come to a boil, place the steamer on the kadai making sure that the basket is not touching the water.
  • Cover the lid and steam cook the Momos for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the cover and see that the momos have cooked perfectly.
  • Remove the momos from the steamer and cook the other Momos in the same manner.
  • Serve them hot with the spicy red momos chutney. Enjoy the delicious momos.
