Instructions

To make Sugar Syrup

  • Mix two cup sugar with 2 cup of water and cook on high flame.
  • Add 3 crushed cardamom or 1/4 tsp cardamom powder and let the sugar melt.
  • Let it simmer on high flame for 5-6 minutes after sugar is melted. Turn off the flame once the sugar syrup thickens slightly.

  • Make sure that there are no cracks on the surface.

To Fry

  • Heat refined oil or desi ghee on low to medium flame for a few minutes.
  • Once the ghee is heated, add the dough balls. Stir the sides often. Don't touch the jamun balls.
  • Flip and Fry the Jamuns until they are golden brown and evenly cooked on all sides.
  • Remove the gulab jamuns with the help of a slotted spoon.
  • Add the fried Jamuns to the sugar syrup. Make sure that the syrup is still warm.
  • Let the Jamuns soak in the syrup for 2 hours.
  • Garnish with chopped nuts (optional) and serve the gulab jamuns to your family and friends.
