Gulab Jamun Recipe in Hindi Video
Ingredients to make Gulab Jamun
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cup water
- 3 cardamom (or 1/4 tsp cardamom powder)
- 240 gm Mawa/Khoya
- 3 tbsp Maida (all-purpose flour)
- 2.5 tbsp Milk powder
- 3 cups oil/desi ghee
- chopped nuts (optional)
How to make Gulab Jamun (Step-by-Step Instructions)
Sugar Syrup for Gulab Jamun
1. Mix two cups of sugar with 2 cups of water and cook on high flame.
2. Add 3 crushed cardamom or 1/4 tsp cardamom powder and let the sugar melt.
3. Let it simmer on high flame for 5-6 minutes after the sugar is melted. Turn off the flame once the sugar syrup thickens slightly. You can also add a few drops of rose water here.
How to make Gulab Jamun Dough
4. Take 240 gm Mawa or Khoya and grate it.
5. Add 3 tbsp maida (all-purpose flour) and 2.5 tbsp milk powder(optional). Mix well and knead it for 3-4 minutes to make a soft dough.
6. Divide the dough into small equal-sized portions and roll them into smooth balls with your hands. Make sure that there are no cracks on the surface.
How to Fry Gulab Jamun
7. Heat 3 cups refined oil or desi ghee on low to medium flame for a few minutes.
8. Once the ghee is heated, add the dough balls. Stir the sides often without touching the gulab jamun balls.
9. Flip and Fry the Jamuns until they are golden brown and evenly cooked on all sides.
10. Remove the gulab jamuns with the help of a slotted spoon.
11. Add the fried Jamuns to the sugar syrup. Make sure that the syrup is still warm.
12. Let the Jamuns soak in the syrup for 2 hours.
You can see that the gulab jamuns have got bigger in size as they are filled with syrup.
Garnish with chopped nuts (optional) and serve the gulab jamuns to your family and friends.
