How to Store Fresh Blueberries in the Refrigerator
Fresh blueberries are packed with antioxidants and rich flavor, but they can spoil quickly if not stored properly. Freezing fresh blueberries at home is the best way to extend their shelf life while retaining their natural sweetness and nutritional value.
Follow this simple, step-by-step flash-freezing method to keep your blueberries fresh, firm, and ready for your favorite recipes anytime!
Step 1: Wash and Dry Thoroughly
1. Start by thoroughly washing 150g of fresh blueberries under cold water to remove any surface dirt or residue.
Important: Moisture is the biggest cause of freezer burn and clumping. Make sure to pat the blueberries completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Single-Layer Flash Freezing
2. Transfer the dried blueberries onto a clean plate or baking sheet. Spread them out evenly in a single layer, ensuring that the berries do not overlap or touch.

3. Place the plate in the freezer overnight (or for at least 8 to 10 hours). By the next day, you will see that the blueberries have frozen completely solid and hardened individually. You can also check after 4-5 hours for the same.

Step 3: Pack and Store for Long-Term
4. Remove the frozen blueberries from the plate and transfer them into a heavy-duty Ziplock freezer bag or an airtight container. Arrange them gently, making sure they aren’t squished together, and seal the bag or container tightly.
