How To Make Holi Gulal Colors at Home
Green color from spinach
1. Take Fresh spinach leaves(about 150 g). First, wash them thoroughly.

2. Add them to a grinding jar. Add a little bit of water.

3. Blend to create a smooth paste.

4. Transfer to a bowl and keep aside. You can also sieve it if you want.

Pink/red color from beetroot
5. Peel 1 large Beetroot, wash it, and add it to a grinding jar.

6. Add a little bit of water to the jar.

7. Blend to form a paste. You can also sieve it if you want. Transfer to a small bowl.

Yellow color from turmeric
8. Take 1/2 cup of Turmeric powder and place it in a bowl. Add a little bit of water.

9. Mix with a spoon to create a smooth paste. As the Haldi is already in powder form, we don’t have to grind it.

10. Our smooth haldi paste is also ready.

11. Once all the pastes are ready, we will add 1 tbsp of rose water to each bowl. Rose water (Gulab Jal) is added because it is good for the skin and provides a pleasant fragrance.

12. Take a large bowl. Add the Haldi Paste, and then 1/2 cup of Cornflour is added to each paste as a base. First, I added Turmeric paste, but you can use any. Repeat the same for the other two pastes as well.

13. Mix thoroughly to create a smooth paste.

14. Spread the same on a large plate or Thaali.

15. Once all the pastes are mixed with cornflour and spread on plates, leave the plates to dry in the sun for about 4-5 hours or under a fan for two days.

16. Keeping the plates under the Sun for 4-5 hours has dried out the colors and hardened them.

17. Break the hardened color into pieces. You can use a knife for this to scrape and break the colors.

18. Grind the pieces separately into a fine powder using a mixer. Here, I’ve grinded Yellow color from the turmeric paste first into a smooth powder form. Do the same for Pink and Green from Beetroot paste and Spinach paste, respectively.

19. All the colors are now ready.

20. Make your Holi safe and chemical-free by making these 100% natural Herbal Gulal at home. Enjoy!
