Namak Para Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour(maida)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp carrom seeds
  • 5-6 tbsp ghee(clarified butter)/oil
  • water as required
  • oil for frying

How to make Namak Para (Step-by-Step Instructions)

1. Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp carom seed in a mixing bowl. Mix well.

2. Add 5-6 tbsp ghee/oil

3. Mix well until you can see that it breaks easily in your hands. This ensures that it comes out crispy.

4. Add water slowly to prepare a dough.

5. Knead the dough. The dough should be tight so that it doesn’t absorb much oil.

6. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.

7. After 15 minutes, divide it into 4 large balls. Roll it with the help of a rolling pin and board. It should be slightly thick and not too thin as shown below.

8. Cut the dough into diamond shapes.

9. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the Namak Pare on low flame until they turn golden brown in color. Add Namak para in batches.

10. Drain the excess oil and keep the Namak para on a paper towel.

11. Let it cool completely at room temperature and serve it to your friends and family. The kids will especially love this. You can also store it in an airtight container. You can use it for up to 2-3 months.

For Dough

  • Add maida, salt, carrom seeds and ghee in a mixing bowl. Mix well
  • Add water slowly to make a dough. Knead the dough to make it tight.
  • Cover the dough and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.

For Namak para shapes

  • Divide the dough into 4 large balls. Roll it with the help of rolling pin and board. Keep it slightly thick and not too thin.
  • Cut the dough into diamond shapes.

For Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the Namak pare in batches on low flame until golden brown.
  • Drain excess oil by keeping them on a paper towel.
  • You can store them in an air-tight container and use them for 2-3months.

Notes
