In this post, I’ll share the Kulhad wali chai | kulhad chai recipe, or Indian milk tea is an Indian tea recipe served in traditional clay cups, known as Kulhads or Kullads. If you are an Indian or if you are visiting India, you will find it almost everywhere and on every street. It’s full of flavor, and people here love to hang out with their friends and family while sipping kulhad tea. If you visit anyone in India, people will first serve you tea. It is environmentally friendly and also tastes delicious. People here can’t start their day without having a cup of this excellent tea. They rush to the famous tea stalls nearby and demand kulhad wali chai along with noodles or samosa. This tea can also be prepared in different varieties like tandoori kulhad chai and simple kulhad or kullad chai. Kulhad chai(tea) is made with simple ingredients like milk, tea leaves, sugar, water, and spices like ginger, and cardamom are used to add flavor to the tea.

Kulhad tea or Indian tea has so many benefits. Let’s look at them

  • Bone health: Milk contains calcium which is essential for bones and teeth. Milk also improves immunity as it contains certain vitamins and minerals.
  • Reduces stress: Tea reduces stress. A sip makes you feel relieved of all tension and reduces your stress levels.
  • Environment-friendly: Kulhad are environmentally friendly as they are biodegradable so it also helps to reduce waste and protect the environment.

Chai(Tea) Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup full cream milk
  • 2 cup water
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 3 cardamom
  • 1 tbsp tea leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp milk powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar

How to make Kulhad wali chai (Indian Tea) – Step-by-Step Instructions

1) Heat 2 cups of water on a medium flame.

2) Add 1 tbsp of tea when the water gets heated.

3) Crush 1-inch ginger and 3 cardamoms together and add them to the water. Cook for 30 seconds on low to medium flame

4) Add 1 cup of full cream milk and cook until 1 boil.

5) Mix 2-3 tbsp milk powder with 4-5 tbsp water and add it to the mixture.

6) Add 1 tbsp sugar or as per your taste. You can skip it if you don’t prefer sugar or you can add organic sugar.

7) Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes on low flame

8) Strain it in a glass or container

9) Pour in a kulhad or a cup. Enjoy the delicious taste of this aromatic and flavorful tea.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk full cream
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 3 cardamom
  • 1 tbsp tea leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp milk powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions
 

  • Heat 1 cup water on medium flame
  • Add 1 tbsp tea leaves
  • Add crushed ginger and cardamom paste
  • Cook for 30 seconds on low to medium flame
  • Add 1 cup full cream milk
  • Mix 2-3 tbsp milk powder with 4-5 tbsp water and keep it aside.
  • Cook tea until 1 boil.
  • Add the milk powder mixture
  • Add sugar as per taste.
  • Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes on low flame
  • Strain it in a glass or in the kulhad.
  • Enjoy the tea with pakoras or biscuit.
