It is also known as Indian Spiced lemonade and trust me, you will forget other lemon drinks once you make this Masala Shikanji. Shikanji and Nimbu Pani are just different names for the same lemon drink. It is known as Shikanji in the Northern parts of the country and Nimbu Pani in the Southern Parts. In this article, I’ll take you through the homemade recipe for Shikanji, the step-by-step process of making this amazing summer drink.
What is Shikanji
Shikanji or Nimbu Pani is also known as the traditional Indian Lemonade. It is made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, spices, sugar, and chilled water with mint leaves for garnishing. When you take 1 sip of this lemon drink, you will forget to make any other as it has the perfect combination of sugar and spices that brings out an irresistible flavor. This Lemon Shikanji can also be made with premade Shikanji Masala which is easily available in the market.

Shikanji Recipe Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Crushed Ice
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala
- salt
- 1 pinch Coriander powder
- 1 tbsp Mishri Powder
- 1/4 tsp Black salt
- Chilled Water
- Mint Leaves
- Lemon Slice
How To Make Shikanji
1. To make Shikanji, take a large glass and add 2 tbsp crushed ice.
2. Add 2 tbsp lemon juice. Use only fresh lemons and squeeze the juice. Remove the seeds.
3. Add ½ tsp roasted cumin powder, 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder, ½ tsp Chaat Masala, salt as per taste, and 1 pinch of Coriander Powder.
4. Add 1 tbsp Mishri Powder. I have substituted normal sugar with Mishri Powder to avoid empty calories.
5. Add ¼ tsp of Black salt. It just gives it extra flavor.
6. Pour chilled water into the glass. Stir it well.
7. Garnish the Shikanji with fresh mint leaves and a lemon slice.
Stir it well to mix everything well. Enjoy the cool and delicious Shikanji. Enjoy!
Tips
- Serve the Sikanji chilled.
- Adjust the flavor as per your taste & preference by adding more or less sugar and lemon juice.

Ingredients

Instructions
