Try this Oats Porridge recipe whenever you want something healthy, delicious, and quick to make. I’m using instant oats here, so there’s no need to add water. But if you use rolled or steel-cut oats, you’ll need some water to soften them. In India, we call it Oats Porridge, while in the US, it’s known as Oatmeal. This simple and versatile dish can be customized easily—add your favorite fruits, nuts, or flavors to make it just the way you like.

Oatmeal isn’t just tasty; it’s also packed with essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. It helps lower cholesterol, supports digestion, improves heart health, and helps manage blood sugar levels, making it a wholesome choice for any meal of the day.

Oats have so many benefits that we should include them in our diet. People prefer it in the morning as it contains fiber, protein, and other essential minerals. They are full of antioxidants. They are very filling, which helps you lose weight. I prefer a bowl of oats first thing in the morning when I’m not making something new.

Ingredients to Make Oats Porridge Recipe

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 tbsp cashew
  • 1 tbsp almonds
  • 6-8 black grape raisins
  • 2 tbsp rock candy
  • dry fruits and honey for garnishing(optional)

How to Make Oats Porridge with Milk

1. Add 2 cups of milk to a pan. Bring it to a boil on a high flame. You can add water at this stage if you are using other types of oats. Using milk gives oats a thicker consistency.

2. Once the milk boils, turn the flame to low and add 1/4 cup of Instant oats.

3. Add the chopped nuts, such as 1 tbsp cashew, 1 tbsp almonds, and 6-8 black raisins. You can also add chopped bananas for additional nutrition.

4. Add 2 tbsp of rock candy for taste. You can also use normal sugar. Adding sugar is optional, as we are already using fruits and nuts for natural sweetness.

5. Cook on low to medium flame and let it simmer. Keep stirring frequently until the milk thickens and you reach the desired consistency. Turn the flame to high and cook for another 20 seconds.

6. The Creamy, thick oats porridge is ready. Turn off the flame. The liquid should still be runny and slightly runny because the oats will thicken when they cool down.

7. Pour into a bowl and serve it hot. Garnish with dry fruits and honey once the oats cool down slightly.

  • Add rock cndy for taste.
  • Cook on low to medium flame. Keep stirring unti the milk thickens.
  • Turn the flame to high and cook for another 20 seconds
  • Creamy oats porridge is ready. Turn off the flame.
  • Pour in a bowl and serve it hot.
  • Garnish with dry fruits and honey to enhace the taste.
