Peanut Chikki Recipe: Moongfali Gajak

In this Peanut Chikki Recipe, learn how to make the perfect Moongfali Gajak or Peanut Gajak. The Peanut Chikki or Mungfali Gajak is a very crispy and sweet snack prepared in India during winter and also during festivals such as Makar Sankranti. It is very easy to make and only requires roasted peanuts, Jaggery, water, and Ghee. It is very healthy as Jaggery and Peanuts are full of nutrients like protein and iron, and are good for our health. It is also free of refined sugar so it is fit for everyone. Chikki is an Indian sweet candy that is made in many varieties with various ingredients like nuts, seeds, puffed rice, and Jaggery. This perfect Peanut Chikki only requires Gur and Moongfali and can be served as the perfect snack for your kids when they crave something sweet.

Peanut Chikki Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup Raw Peanuts (Moongfali)
  • 1 cup Jaggery (Gud)
  • 1 tbsp Desi Ghee
  • 1 tbsp water

How To Make Peanut Chikki with Jaggery

1. Take 1 cup of raw Peanut and 1 cup of Jaggery. Remember to take both in equal measure to make Gud Peanut Chikki.

2. Take a Kadhai and dry roast the raw peanuts on low to medium flame. We will dry roast the peanuts until cracks appear and the outer layer starts shedding.

3. Take the peanuts out on a plate. Let it cool down slightly and then rub them between the palms of your hands to shed the layer and sieve it. Also, crush the peanuts between your hands and keep them aside.

4. Now, take a plate and grease it with desi ghee. Keep it aside.

5. Take a Pan. Heat 1 tbsp Desi ghee on low flame. Add the Jaggery and mix it.

6. Add 1 tbsp of water. Mix it well and the Gud will melt. Stir continuously and cook as the mixture starts to thicken.

7. To check if the Gud mixture is cooked well enough to make the Chikki, pour a little bit of the mixture into a water bowl. Let it cool down. Check if the mixture has thickened and can break and there is no elasticity. If it breaks, then the mixture is suitable for adding the peanuts.

8. Add the roasted peanuts to the mixture. Mix it well with the mixture, and cook it for 30 seconds. Turn off the flame.

9. Now, pour the mixture onto the greased plate. Grease the bottom of a steel bowl with ghee and spread the mixture with it.

10. Let it cool down slightly and then cut it using a knife.

11. Now, let it cool down, and then use a spatula to separate the Chikki from the plate.
