This Ragi Halwa Recipe is one of the healthiest Indian sweets as it uses Ragi or Finger Millet, flavored with cardamom powder, Chopped Nuts, Jaggery, Desi Ghee, and Ragi Flour. This traditional Indian sweet, which is also known as Nachni Halwa, can be made as a dessert during any celebration, such as Diwali, or during breakfast too. It is also made for people of all ages, be it kids or older people, due to its benefits.

What is Finger Millet
Finger Millet is also known as Red Millet, and in Hindi, it is called Ragi and Nachni. Finger Millet is a small grain, which is highly nutritious, and has a reddish brown color. It is called Finger millet due to its unique appearance.
Ragi Millet Benefits
The Ragi Halwa benefits are numerous, as Ragi is also known as Wonder Millet due to them. It is loaded with calcium, naturally gluten-free, and high in fiber and protein.
-Rich in Calcium: as one of the highest natural sources of plant-based calcium, it is really helpful for older people.
-Rich in Fiber: as it is rich in fiber, it aids digestion, helps with constipation, and weight management.
-Rich in Protein: Methionine, an essential amino acid, is included in it among other proteins.
-Other Benefits: It is gluten-free, so it is good for people with wheat sensitivity. It is also a source of Iron, which is good for red blood cells, and due to its low glycemic index, it is good for people with diabetes. It also has antioxidants, which help with free radicals.

Ragi Halwa Ingredients
- 1/2 cup jaggery
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons of desi ghee
- 5-6 almonds
- 5-6 cashews
- 1/2 cup of Ragi Flour
- 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder
- Chopped nuts for Garnishing
How To Make Ragi Halwa
1. To make Ragi Halwa, take 1/2 cup jaggery in a Pan.

2. Add 1 cup of water to the pan and turn on the gas. Let it come to a boil, and then cook until the jaggery has melted completely. Our jaggery syrup is ready now.

3. Now, take a Kadai or Pan, and add 2 tablespoons of desi ghee to it. Then, roast 5-6 almonds in it.

4. After roasting almonds for a bit, add 5-6 cashews to the Kadai and roast them as well for a bit. We add cashews later, as they get roasted quickly.

5. After roasting, take out the cashews and almonds. Keep aside.

6. Add 1/2 cup of Ragi Flour to the Kadai on a low flame.

7. Mix and roast the Ragi with the Ghee very well until it changes color and gives a very nice aroma.

8. Add 1 tbsp of Ghee, and roast it well on a low flame for a few minutes. You can see the consistency below.

9. Now, add the jaggery syrup little by little and mix well.

10. Keep stirring the mixture consistently.

11. You will see that the mixture will start to thicken very quickly. Just keep stirring.

12. As soon as it thickens to 4/5, add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder for flavor. Mix well.

13. After mixing, add the roasted cashews and almonds. Mix well.

14. After a few minutes, the Halwa will start leaving the Pan; you can see the texture below. The Halwa is ready now. Let it cool down.

15. Garnish with dry fruits.
