This Cajun Potatoes Recipe is one of the most loved and popular Potato starters or appetiser recipes. It is made with boiled baby potatoes and creamy Cajun dipping sauce. This served as a starter in a very famous restaurant chain – BBQ, or Barbeque Nation, where I also tried it for the first time and fell in love with its melt-in-the-mouth and finger-licking, tempting taste. After some time, I tried to make this delicious vegetarian starter, and the result is this Cajun-spiced Potato Recipe.

This famous potato-based starter snack or side dish is crispy & crunchy on the outside, and the sauce is so creamy with a spicy & tangy flavor. Cajun Potato Recipe Ingredients

  • 300 g of Baby Potatoes
  • Salt
  • 1/4th cup of Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp of Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • 5 Cashews
  • 1 tsp Pizza Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Flakes
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/4th tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup of boiled milk
  • 4 tbsp of corn flour
  • 2 tbsp of refined flour
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped onion, coriander leaves, and red chilli powder for Garnishing

How To Make Cajun Spice Potato Recipe

Boil Potato

1. To make Cajun Potatoes, we will use 300g of Baby Potatoes. Wash them properly to remove any dirt.

2. Take a saucepan and set it on medium to high heat. Add water, and then add all the potatoes to it. Add a tsp of salt and boil it to cook it 90%. Alternatively, you can also cook it in a pressure cooker.

3. After boiling it, we can check if the potatoes have cooked well using a fork. Turn off the gas, and strain the water.

4. Strain the water, and keep the potatoes in a separate mesh. Keep aside and proceed to make the sauce.

How to Make Cajun Sauce

5. To make the Cajun Sauce, take a blending or sauce jar, add 1 quarter cup of Mayonnaise, 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup, 1 tbsp of Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, and 5 Cashews. Blend it. If you are mixing in a bowl, then use cashew powder.

6. Blend to a creamy texture. The color will also come out so good.

7. Now, add 1 tsp Pizza Seasoning, 1 tsp Red Chilli Flakes, 2 tsp Garlic powder, 1 tsp Onion powder, and 1 quarter tsp black pepper powder. Add salt to taste. Keep in mind that all the spices and sauces we added have salt, so add salt in moderation.

8. Add 1/2 cup of boiled milk. Blend to mix everything together and make a slightly thick sauce.

9. The consistency of the sauce should be neither too thick nor too thin. You need a slightly thick sauce, so add the milk accordingly. Keep the Cajun potato sauce aside.

Make the Cajun Spiced Potato

10. In the meantime, the boiled potatoes have also cooled down. Take the potatoes and press them gently with your palms to flatten them. Alternatively, use a potato masher.

11. Flatten all the potatoes in the same manner, and keep them aside.

12. Now, we will prepare a slurry. Take a large bowl, add 4 tbsp of corn flour, 2 tbsp of refined flour, and salt to taste. Add some water and mix to prepare a slightly thin slurry.

13. Now, dip the flattened potatoes in the slurry. Also, take a kadai and heat oil on a high flame for frying the potatoes.

14. Now, just fry the potatoes that are dipped in the slurry. We have to fry on a high flame.

15. We have to fry the potatoes until they become crispy on both sides. So use a fork to turn them over and fry both sides evenly.

16. Once they are fried well and get crisp, golden brown, we need to take them out on a mesh.

17. Put them on a plate and pour the Cajun Sauce on the potatoes.

18. Garnish with chopped onion, coriander leaves, and red chilli powder.
