I’ll make the recipe using instant oats so water is not needed. However, if you use rolled or steel-cut oats, you’ll require water to soften the oats. It is called Oats Porridge in India and Oatmeal in the US. It is a simple and versatile dish that can be customized as per your requirements and preferences as you can add different fruits and nuts for different flavors. Ingredients to Make Oats Porridge Recipe
- 2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup oats
- 1 tbsp cashew
- 1 tbsp almonds
- 6-8 black grape raisins
- 2 tbsp rock candy
- dry fruits and honey for garnishing(optional)
How to Make Oats Porridge with Milk
1. Add 2 cup milk to a pan. Bring it to a boil on a high flame. You can add water at this stage if you are using other types of oats. Using milk gives oats a thicker consistency.
2. Once the milk boils, turn the flame to low and add 1/4 cup of Instant oats.
3. Add the chopped nuts such as 1 tbsp cashew, 1 tbsp almonds, and 6-8 black raisins. You can also add chopped bananas for additional nutrition.
4. Add 2 tbsp rock candy for taste. You can also use normal sugar. Adding sugar is optional as we are already using fruits and nuts for natural sweetness.
5. Cook on low to medium flame and let it simmer. Keep stirring frequently until the milk thickens and you reach the desired consistency. Turn the flame to high and cook for another 20 seconds
6. The Creamy thick oats porridge is ready. Turn off the flame. The liquid should still be runny and slightly runny because the oats will thicken when it cools down.
7. Pour into a bowl and serve it hot. Garnish with dry fruits and honey once the oats cool down slightly.
