Variants of Cumin Rice
There are a lot of variants of Cumin rice and you can customize it as per your preference. You can saute the whole spices along with Ghee to add more flavor to the dish. Jeera Rice goes well with any Paneer Gravy dish and Simple Naan or Chapati. You can also eat it will lentils. (Dals)

Jeera Rice Recipe Ingredients
The ingredients to make this rice recipe are very simple and available in every household. That makes it even better as it requires minimal ingredients.
- 1.5 cup Basmati Rice
- 3-4 tbsp desi ghee(clarified butter)
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 chopped onion
- 2 green chili
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cup water
- chopped coriander leaves
How to make Jeera Rice in a Cooker
1. Take 1.5 cups of Basmati Rice in a bowl. Wash the rice thoroughly 3-4 times. We’ll not soak the rice in water. Keep it aside for now.
2. Heat a pressure cooker and add 3-4 tbsp desi ghee.
3. Once the ghee heats and melts, add 1 tbsp cumin and let it fry for a few seconds. let the cumin fry well or you will be left with uncooked cumin in rice.
4. Once the cumin is fried, add the chopped onion and 2 green chilies to the cooker and cook them for a few seconds.
5. Now add rice to the cooker. Mix it well with the spices add 1/2 tsp salt and cook for 10 seconds.
6. Mix 3 cups of water well with the rice and spices. Now close the cooker’s lid and cook on high flame until 1 whistle.
7. Open the lid and you can see that the rice has cooked well. Add some chopped coriander leaves. Mix it well with the rice using a fork. Please don’t use a spoon or it will break the rice grains.
8. Pour the cooked rice into a serving bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves and Serve it hot with Dal Fry and Roti

Jeera Rice in Cooker
Ingredients
- 1.5 cup Basmati Rice
- 3-4 tbsp desi ghee(clarified butter)

Instructions
- Wash the Rice thoroughly 3-4 times and keep it aside.
- Heat a pressure cooker and add 3-4 tbsp desi ghee.
- Once the ghee melts, add cumin and let it fry.
- Once the cumin is fried, add the chopped onion and green chillies and cook them for few seconds.
- Now add rice in the cooker. Mix well, add salt and cook for 10 seconds.
- Add water and mix it well. Now cook on high flame until 1 whistle.
- Open the lid and add chopped coriander leaves. Mix it well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and Serve it hot with Dal Fry and Roti.
Notes
- Use high-quality and healthy Basmati Rice so that Rice turns out non-sticky.
- Use rice and water in a 1:2 ratio. We took 1.5 cups of Rice so we added 3 cups of water.
- Rinse the Rice well as it removes starch.
- When stirring the rice, use a fork instead of a spoon to avoid breaking rice grains.
