Moong Beans, also known as Green Gram or Mung Bean, belong to the legume family, and the Bean sprouts are grown from soaked Mung Beans that are high in protein, fibre, and other essential nutrients. Mung Beans can be sprouted in 2 ways – either in a jar or with a Muslin cloth.

Mung Bean Sprouts Recipe Video
Ingredients
- 1 cup Whole Green Mung Beans
- Water as Required

How To Sprout Mung Beans
1. We will take 1 cup of whole Green gram beans to make Green Mung Sprouts.

2. Now, pour in a bowl, cover, and soak the Mung beans in water overnight or for 7-8 hours.

3. After keeping them overnight, you can see that the beans have swelled and almost doubled.

4. Wash the beans properly. Now, place a strainer over a large bowl and pour the beans onto the strainer to strain the moisture.

5. Wash once more with fresh water.

6. Discard the water. Leave the beans on the strainer and cover with a lid. Keep it covered for 24 hours. If you do not want to keep it in the strainer, you can keep it covered with a cloth, too. Remember to maintain the moisture, you have to sprinkle water every 6-7 hours or when you feel that the beans have dried. This is very important. If you have covered it with a cloth, then sprinkle water over the cloth.

7. Here, you can see that the beans have sprouted. You can store and refrigerate them for use for up to 5 days.
